With victory in the Rookies class at Tasmania, the Tony Kart Rocky EXP chassis proved to be the benchmark for all other chassis in the Rookies and Cadets class. The Rocky EXP won 7 of the 8 state titles on offer throughtout the year!

Again in Tasmania it was young gun Cooper Murray who won his 4th state title of the year in the Rookies class. Cooper qualified 2nd and went on to win every race and win the final by over 1 second. Other Tony Kart pilots to obtain excellent results were Thomas Hughes in 3rd place, 4th place went to Declan Fraser in only his second race in a Tony Kart. Tayla Heath finished in 10th place.

In the Cadets class WA up and coming driver, Jack Harders finished in 5th place and also had the fastest lap of the final. NT champion Nathan Herne finished 6th, Sean Larkin was 7th with Ethan Wyllie finihsing in 11th place.

Clubman Super Heavy saw a dominant display by Joshua Herne in his Krypton KSX chassis. Josh qualified 1st by 6 tenths! then won very race and won the final a huge 9.4 seconds! Well Done Josh!

In Junior Clubman, Tasmanian female young gun Gemma Wyllie finished in 4th place after starting in 7th position.

The Tony Kart Rocky EXP chassis again showed it winning speed to help take Cooper Murray to his 3rd Rookie state title victory in 2012. After qaulifying 2nd, Cooper went on the win the firrst 2 heats while gaing the fastest lap in both. Starting 4th for the final, Cooper worked his way to front and went on to win by over 3 seconds. Again getting the fastest lap of the race.

In Cadets again the Rocky chassis was up the front all weekend and in the final 4th place went to Nathan Herne ahead of WA driver Jack Harders in 5th.

In Clubman Super Heavy, QLD driver Joshua Herne finished the weekend in 2nd position aboard his Krypton KSX chassis.

In Rotax Light, Mildura driver Luke Bergens finished a fighting 2nd place in the final in his Tony Racer EVRR chassis.

In Junior MAX, regular front runner Andrew Kahl had a disappointing event, but fought back to finish in 5th place on his EVRR chassis.

The new chassis will be called the Racer EVK and Krypton KSK.

These should be available in Australia prior to Christmas 2012.

The Racer EVK is the model that Tony Kart official driver Flavio Camponeschi drove to win the 2012 KF1 World Championships only 2 weeks ago.

2013 Tony Kart chassis range

First up was DD2 Masters and with close racing all weekend, the final was always going to be a tight battle. After 30 laps Tony Kart Australia driver Hamish Leighton finished in 2nd place after leading the final lap and the other Tony Kart Australia driver, Peter Newland crossed the line in 4th place after being pushed off the road at the start and falling back to 8th place. Tony Bregonje finished in 7th place after starting 17th and Karting Worlds Adam Hunter finished in 10th place in his debut in the class.

In Junior MAX, Tony Kart drivers Cody Gillis and Andrew Kahl were fresh from excellent results at the ROK International Final. Both drivers ran at the front all weekend Cody finishing 5th in the final and having the second fastest laptime by .03 of a second, and Andrew finishing 8th after starting 12th.

In DD2, Tony Kart Australia driver Travis Millar was running as high as 3rd position in the final when another competitor was over ambititous in his passing move, causing contact and pushing Trav back to 6th place. He then fought on to finish in 4th place. Michael Stewart finished in 2nd place and also gained the fastest laptime of the final.

Each nation was required to nominate two entrants towards the coveted Nations Cup. Andrew Kahl and Cody Gillis were the chosen two and they secured the silverware!

This was an exceptional effort and means Australia won the Nations Cup at the Rok International at its first attempt.

It was around 22 degress and cloudy for the Aussie team’s final day of racing. They all fronted the early morning 5-minute warm up, with the exception of Chris Sandrone who opted to sit the session out to rest a niggling rib injury.  

In the first remaining two Junior Rok heats, Andrew Kahl came home 3rd with the fastest time in the heat by well over 0.1 of a second. Kurt Kosteki unfortunately DNF’d the heat which meant he would miss out in the Rok Cup final by a single point.

Next up was Chris Sandrone’s last heat in which he managed to come home 5th after being up as high as 2nd.  

First up in the finals was Jack Bell starting the T-Kart Mini Rok final in 11th.  Jack quickly set about working his way through the field to battle for the lead for the remaining 4 laps to come home second, missing out on first by just 0.33sec.

Next up was Kurt Kosteki starting from pole in the Bridgestone final. Kurt quickly took a comanding lead to win by over 2.8 secs.

In the Junior Rok final, Andrew Kahl started of 4th with Chris Sandrone off 8th and Cody Gillis off 22nd. Andrew recovered from some kart contact at the start that set him back several positions. Despite this, he worked his way back to come home 4th setting the second fastest time just .020 seconds behind winner Italian Leonnardo Pulcini.

Chris Sandrone had a luckless race, relegated back after a first corner incident to eventualy DNF after a late race incident.  Cody Gillis had a barn storming run from 22nd to finish 8th which was the final podium position.  

Travis Millar started the Super Rok class final 17th, only to have another kart drive over his kart on the first corner. Fortunately, apart from some cuts on his hands, Travis escaped injury, however kart damage meant his campaign ended early.

Finally, the “Australian” Team at the Rok International Final wish to thank again Greg Smith from Tonykart Australia, Mark Rottenbury and Adam Hunter from Karting World, Matt Greenbury from G Force Karting and all the Mum’s and Dad’s.

Tony Kart chassis were well represented in all classes with all showing good speed throughout the weekend.

In Rookies, pole position went to Tony Kart pilot Cooper Murray (VIC), with WA Tony Kart driver Ethan Patience qualifing 3rd. Both drivers never finished outside the top 3 in any race over the weekend and finished the weekend a superb 1st & 2nd in the final.

In the Cadets class Ethans younger brother Mason qualified in 2nd position and Damon Papasergio qualified his Tony Kart Rocky in 4th position. Both drivers again ran inside the top six all weekend with Damon finishing a fighting 3rd position in the final, with Mason crossing the line in 5th place.

In Rotax Heavy, Peter Newland used his Tony Kart Racer EVRR to perfection by qualifing on pole position and going onto win every race. He was unfortunately penalised a 10 second penalty in the pre-final (which he also won), which meant he would start down the back for the final. Peter never gave up throughout the race and drove through to a 2nd place finish. His Tony Kart Racer EVRR was strong throughout the final by setting the fastest lap of the race in the final lap, 5 tenths faster than the eventual winner….

Peter Newland also finished 2nd in the Open class in his Tony Kart Racer EVRR KZ chassis.

In Leopard Light, WA driver Adam Garnaut finished in 3rd position in his Tony Kart Racer EVRR, even after a roll over in the pre-final!

Qualifying was yesterday (Friday 12/10/12) with the Australian drivers doing very well in their debut international racing.

Jack Bell – Mini ROK – qaulified 14th out of 48 competitors only 2 tenths off the pole time.

Cody Gillis – Junior ROK – qualified 7th
Andrew Kahl – Junior ROK – qualified 9th
Chris Sandrone – Junior ROK – qualified 23rd
Kurt Kostecki – Junior ROK – qualified 49th

Junior ROK has the biggest class with 73 entries.

Travis Millar – Super ROK – qaulified 28th out of 67 entries.

With the DD2 classes being a points scoring round towards the Rotax World Finals, the racing was always going to be close. Travis Millar had a good weekend with pole position and finishing 3rd in the final of DD2. Hamish Leighton also had a competitive weekend in the DD2 Masters class. With the Master class being mixed in with DD2, Hamish qualified 4th and that where he finished every race, but in doing so won the DD2 Masters class.

In Cadets, Victorian champion Joshua Smith finished a close 2nd after a very heated battle in the final. Other Tony Kart pilots to perform well were Tyler O’Leary in 5th place, Jonathon Cassar in 6th place in his 2nd race in a Tony Kart, Aaron Love in 9th, Courtney Prince in 10th, Jack Harders in 11th in his first race in a Tony Kart, Antonio Astuti in 12th and Valentino Astuti in 18th position after being as high as 11th during the race.

In Rookies, QLD champion Cooper Murray held off all attacks on the final lap to claim victory in his Tony Kart Rocky chassis and also have the fastest lap of the race. Thomas Hughes finshed in 5th position and Jack Bell in 7th position.

 Junior Max driver Andrew Kahl had another competitive weekend where he finished 2nd in the final. He is currently 3rd in the championship with 1 event to go, with his focus on qualifying through to go to the Rotax World Finals in Portugal later this year. With the speed himself and his Tony Kart Racer EVRR have shown over the last few race meetings, he will definately be one to watch at the Rotax Nationals.

In Rotax Heavy, G – Force Racings Matt Greenbury made a return to the seat to steer his Tony Kart to 3rd place in the final.

Rotax Over 40′s saw Shane Karandrews take another victory after having a battle with another driver throughout the race.

In DD2 Masters, Tony Kart driver Hamish Leighton made sure he finished up the front to gain as many points as possible to help him also go to the World Finals in Portugal. He finished up 4th after not wanting to crash out battling for 3rd position. He now leads the championship with 1 event to go.
